The Bourne Legacy is an expansion of the universe from Robert Ludlum’s novels and runs as a parallel story to the previous Bourne film, The Bourne Ultimatum. The lead character Aaron Cross (played by Jeremy Renner) is part of another op group known as Outcome, which the agency decides it needs to eliminate. With help from Dr. Marta Shearing (played by Rachel Weisz), Aaron must escape the agency and the people that are trying to kill him.
Were the cast any good?
Many complained that a Bourne film wouldn’t be a Bourne film without Matt Damon, but playing a different character, Jeremy Renner does a superb job of becoming the new hero in the Bourne franchise. Well supported by Rachel Weisz, Scott Glenn and Edward Norton, acting talent is plentiful in this movie.
What was good about the movie?
The Bourne Legacy has succeeded in maintaining the edge of the seat excitement from the first three with plenty of pace and action.
What was bad about the movie?
Initially, the story is a little hard to follow and you have to pay attention quite carefully to ensure you pick up every little detail. It also relies quite heavily on at least one viewing of the previous Bourne movie so you can relate it to what is happening in this one.
Would you watch it again?
Most certainly I would, particularly as I am personally a fan of all the Bourne movies. The Bourne Legacy lives up to expectations and with a second or third viewing, there are probably even more story details to be understood.
Who would you recommend it to?
Naturally if you enjoyed any of the first three Bourne movies, you will like The Bourne Legacy. Even without having seen The Bourne Ultimatum, there is plenty of drama and action in this one to keep you entertained and on the edge of your seat.
